Head of Strategic Partnerships at PWE, Whitney Henderson, said: “Both Unknown Worlds and Perfect World Entertainment were incredibly happy to raise $100k from the Subnautica World Oceans Day sale to help WDC continue their vital work keeping our oceans healthy for the amazing wildlife that call them home. None of us had been scuba diving before but we are all excited to find an excuse to go again soon!” Mark Turpin from The Yogscast said: “We were delighted to raise some awareness of the fantastic partnership of an amazing game on sale, Subnautica, and 15% of the profits going to the phenomenal charity, WDC through an incredible experience of our first open water dive. To celebrate the special World Oceans Day sale, WDC also invited our long-time supporters, The Yogscast, to undertake a special ‘ Subnautica experience’ which saw Turps, Sjin and Duncan from the hugely popular broadcasting network ‘descending the depths’ on their first ever scuba dive, with help from WDC partner and leading global dive brand, PADI. The sale raised an amazing $86k for the charity, with the generous team at Unknown Worlds also adding an extra $14k donation to WDC to support our conservation work and campaigns, taking the tally up to a whopping $100k.
To mark World Oceans Day on June 8 th, Subnautica was part of a special Steam weekend sale, with 15% of the net developer profits going directly to WDC to support our work all over the world fighting the threats whales and dolphins face each day and helping to keep these amazing creatures safe and free. WDC is celebrating a donation of $100k this week, thanks to the makers of the hugely popular game, Subnautica.
